Did you know…Lionfish are part of the Scorpaenidae family, which includes some of the most venomous species in the world. The dorsal, ventral, and anal spines of a lionfish contain venom comprised of acetylcholine and a neurotoxin, which can be fatal to other fish species. Stings are rarely fatal in humans and can be treated using heat and stonefish antivenom where available.
